Steves Diesel Generators

In this video, I thoroughly test a military surplus MEP004a 4 cylinder NA diesel generator. I put it through a series of load tests, including overload to about 150% of its rated capacity. I also run it single phase while powering my shop, and place some large starting surges on it. During those surges, I watch the waveform on an oscilloscope. I am checking for large spikes, fluctuations, or odd shapes which could indicate a damaged voltage regulator, loose contacts, or bad generator windings.
